BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE
If you find yourself on the wrong side of the law – an investigation, arrest, or a criminal charge – it’s important you get help right away from an attorney who knows how to handle these serious but delicate situations. Serving Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties, criminal defense attorney Christy Horowitz brings over 15 years of experience to the table dealing with a wide range of criminal matters and will use that knowledge to resolve every case as favorably as possible.
Christy N. Horowitz began her career in the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office as the law clerk for the prosecution on the criminal matter of the People vs. Michael J. Jackson.
Having spent many years as a former prosecutor in Santa Barbara, Ms. Horowitz uses her experience as a former Deputy District Attorney where she prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases involving crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, child molestation, child abuse, driving under the influence of alcohol or marijuana, vehicular manslaughter and drug offenses.
During her tenure as a prosecutor, she handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases – seeing many successfully though jury trial; this familiarity with the criminal justice system allows her to skillfully represent clients and recognize opportunities for negotiations, plea bargains, and reductions or dismissals of criminal charges when they arise expertly and professionally. Ms. Horowitz looks for creative ways to solve legal problems for her clients and always seeks to avoid or reduce incarceration whenever possible; she emphasizes alternatives such as rehabilitation and works hard to do what is in her clients’ best interests.
Christy’s extensive knowledge of the local courts to advocate aggressively on behalf of her clients at all stages of their case while providing them with compassionate counsel during an understandably stressful situation. She has a reputation for integrity among law enforcement and prosecutors, which gives her credibility and has allowed her to establish important professional relationships that may benefit her clients.
Christy graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2002 with a degree in Communication Studies and was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Paper Award for Administrative Sciences. Christy has been a member of the Santa Barbara community over 20 years and has participated in the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Program, served as an assistant coach for the Santa Barbara High School’s Mock Trial Team, and volunteered for the Santa Barbara Food Bank and CADA. She is the proud mom of two wonderful daughters.
